Barnwood Fun Day, Gloucester
On the first sunny Saturday in June, Gloucestershire LINk took part in the Family Fun Day at Barnwood Arboretum. This was a great opportunity for LINk to meet with local people and get their views and experiences on local health and social care services. Positive comments were made about the Gloucester Health Access Centre, the Edward Jenner Clinic, and the Cardiology rehabilitation services. However, concerns were expressed around the continuing stigma of mental illness, access to GP services and physiotherapy. All these comments will be shared with the relevant organisations.

SUCCESS AT THE FIRST FOUR COMMUNITY EVENTS
Gloucestershire LINk travelled out to Tewkesbury, Coleford, Dursley and Moreton in Marsh recently to deliver the first four of eight community events planned for the county over the next few months. All were well attended, despite the heavy snowfall on the day of the Coleford event, and gave people an opportunity to find out more about the LINk, its work and to give their views on local priorities.
The types of issues raised were as diverse as the county itself and these will be collated and considered for inclusion in the annual workplan by the Stewardship Board. For information on the forthcoming district events, please see the events page.
Interim Stewardship Board
Following the transition phase of the Gloucestershire LINk (June to September 2008), an election took place to set up the new Interim Stewardship Board of 12. A Chair (Barbara Marshall) and Vice Chair (Bren McInerney) were also elected by the 12 board members. This board will serve for a period of six months until the end of March 2008, when the board will be reviewed and another election process will take place.
The Board will look at the key areas of governance and communications during the six month period including the continued planning and delivery of the district media interviews and community engagement events.
